美国麻省总检察长坎贝尔（Andrea Joy Campbell）9月30日发表调查报告，指该州三个天主教教区逾270名神职人员在数十年间性侵近1,000名儿童。
报告涵盖福尔里弗（Fall River）、斯普林菲尔德（Springfield）及伍斯特（Worcester）教区，大部份性侵发生在2002年前。
坎贝尔称，教区长期知悉儿童遭神职人员侵害，却“往往保护教会声誉而非保护儿童”。
坎贝尔本身是儿童虐待受害者。她指每个数字背后都是一名安全受侵犯的儿童、一个永远改变的家庭，以及背负创伤多年的幸存者。2019年时任总检察长、现任州长希利（Maura Healey）展开刑事调查。
